To the south of the Vishwanath Temple is Benaras Hindu University, which was founded by Sanskrit scholar, Madan Mohan Malviya. Within the campus of the university is the famed Bharat Kala Bhavan Museum, which is renowned for its rich collection of Indian paintings.
